Shibu
I didn't post on it earlier but I thought it would be the best time now. For those of you who aren't really involved in the goings on of the Malayalee Pentecostal community in the United States, I thought I'd fill you in. Shibu Mathai and his wife Jamie moved to Oregon about two months ago. They moved to Lebanon of all places and were already getting involved in ministries there. The couple came to our church in July, and immediately made an impact. Although I don't remember what Shibu spoke about that day at our church, I remember being blessed by it. The young couple came to our house later, and I had a great conversation with Jamie and Shibu. I had an inkling in my heart that they would be a great blessing to the Portland area. I told him about the large mission field here, and he started talking about looking for a job here. Last weekend, in Oklahoma, he jumped into a lake at a church picnic to save his 13 year old niece from drowning. I'm not sure how, but Shibu was able to rescue his niece but was caught by the water himself. The news story can be found here. The beach pictures that you saw on this website had no pictures of us at the beach because we found out about the news after we were there for about ten minutes on the sand- we lost any joy in being there and just drove home.
The latest on this is that they are praying for Shibu. There were many prophecies made over Shibu which detailed the work he was going to do for God in the future. Some of you will be shocked at this, the truth is- they are praying for Shibu to rise up from the dead. This is a sincere prayer to a God who has promised us that he will give us our good desires. As some of you know, I am the biggest skeptic but then I saw this video online-- and yes it is him. I gave a call to the people who run that ministry and they confirmed that their church is praying, along with his family and friends, for Shibu to rise up from the dead. They told me that it was just one of many prophecies made over Shibu before he died.
My take: God can do anything. Absolutely anything. My dad was healed completely from life-endangering injuries from a car accident in the Libyan desert. Doctors told him he could not walk again- my father could destroy you at a game of kabaddi today. Yet, that was God's will for him. I don't know God's will for Shibu, only He does. Yet I am willing to support this family and pray for God to do a miracle here. It sounds crazy, but our God can do whatever the heck he wants. People up and down North America are already praying for him. If you believe, join them today.
UPDATE: Please understand, there are more sections to this site. You are looking at the first post on this topic. Although DayCruz knows the family, he is in no way connected to what is going on. Neither is Dippu.com. I have made a post about the comments on this post at the very top of this website. You can go to it by clicking here. The body will be buried sometime in the next week. It has been taken out of the church. Here is the latest post on the whole issue.

I don't think you realize how fast cults form in the Indian community. Just be careful
we are wise to restrain ourselves in this matter until all is said and done.
my appeal to you today is the plea of Gamaliel:
Act 5:38 And now I say to you, draw away from these men and permit them; because if this counsel is of men, or this work, it will be destroyed.
Act 5:39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to destroy it, lest even you will be found fighters against God.
To the other person, do you realize how fast cults grow in the Caucasian community or the 1st Nations community or the African or the, I hope you get this point. Cults to form quickly that is why we have to stay in ck with ourselves and be humble every step of the way. I have always said that my gifts are not of me but of the Lord. I am not demonic because I have special gifts.
I am sure you are all wonderful people and have much to offer. I thank you all for provoking thought into the minds of myself and others.
Sincerely
Robert Blaine Burns
I really needed some defence and you offered it. Thanks for your response. As I said before perhaps this lady speaking up has also taught many people a lesson. Not negative or necessarily positive but the right lesson that the Lord wanted to teach us. There is power in the Lord more than we can ever imagine and he has and will allow us to use those powers. The Lord is in control of everything for he is mighty and all powerful. We do have a serious problem with the storm down south. I do pray for the people of America. You are all wonderful people and I pray that we will meet at heavens gates. I have learned so much from all of this and I will use this on my Journey to New York this September 11th for the Lords purpose.
You are all awesome in Gods eyes! Let us respect each others differnce and learn to be as one for the Lord.
Amen!

You are correct,I apologize, I'm just a bit frustrated with how they chose to handle this situation. I still hold my stand, but I should not have made it a tirade. Isaac and Mr. Burns, I sorry for anything I said that could have made you upset. God be with you Mr. Burns as you journey to New York. Thanks Pastor Thomas for helping me to understand were I was wrong. Let God be the just Judge.
Maranatha and God Bless you all!
Now about raising the dead, if anyone has questions about whether or not raising the dead is biblical, please read Matthew 10: 7-8. I believe Jamie (Shibu Chacha's wife) said it perfectly at the Worship service=) that was held on Friday, August 19, 2005. She said, "If we pray for the sick to be healed, and we believe God can heal the sick, then the next command is to raise the dead." If we don't believe that God can raise the dead, we are basically saying that not all things are possible through Him which is a total contradiction. If Christ raised the dead when He was on this earth, He is still able to raise the dead. It says in His Word, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever!" Also, if you don't believe Christ can raise the dead, why were some of you excited to go to Conference this year to hear Rev, Bonnke preach? You know that a dead man was raised in his ministry!!!!
To everyone who has been judging the family as well as the prophetess Kimberly, unless God has blessed you with the gift of discernment or you think your god yourself and clearly you're not, you have no right to pass judgment on anyone. Keep in mind that just because this is a controversial issue, it does not give ANYONE the right to gossip or judge others. God will hold everyone accountable for every word that is said against the family and against the prophetess. I pray that God forgives you for your careless words. It is true that everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. If you disagree, no one is asking you to agree. Please keep your opinions to yourself. The family hasn't asked for anyone's opinions. We are standing on the Word of God. All we're doing is being obedient to what God has asked of us.
In response to J- Chicago, we are not making a mockery of God's name. We just have faith that God can raise Shibu Chach from the dead. When has God ever punished his children for having faith in Him or for believing that ALL things are possible through Him? Abraham hoped against hope. He had no reason to hope, but yet he did. Why? Because God placed it in his heart to hope. That's exactly what we're doing. We have hope because God placed it in our hearts. J-Chicago, there's no need for you to speak boldly because you CLAIM to know my family. If you know my family then you also know that we have ALWAYS stood on the Word of God. If we went (or go=) to the same church, then you should know what my family has been through the last three years...and we're STILL believing! This is NOT a case of prophets saying they "can't be wrong." That doesn't even make sense so I won't even argue that point. Now if you claim to know the family, please have the courage to say what you believe to our faces rather than getting on this discussion board and talking behind our backs.
Now to all of those who are standing in agreement with us, God WILL honor your faith! May His name ALONE be glorified in all of this!!!!
TRACY,
EXPLAIN THOSE FEW WHO WILL TURN AWAY FROM THE FAITH BECAUSE SHIBU WAS NOT RAISED, ESPECIALLY THE YOUTH WHO PRAYED FERVENTLY?
AND PEOPLE WILL SAY THEIR OPINION IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT, THE MEDIA IS NOT THERE TO ENCOURAGE YOU, IT'S THERE TO REPORT WITH BIAS. don't think this message board is to attack your family, they stated their opinions, and you heard those opinions from around the USA and even one from India! I very sorry for the stress this might be putting in your heart and mind, but my condolences go out to your family.
I agree we must have faith, but our faith must be put forward in the right manner. Don't worry what other people think. Christ was quiet in front of His accusers, opinions are opinions, people are going to critizcize but if you are truly a child of the Almighty, you will take it in stride
Maranatha
I imagine you are a bit younger, correct me if I'm wrong, these type of things happen and when people are in the denial stage for a long time and then move forward many turn away from prayer and sometimes God all together. I have seen it with my own eyes. In our city, a young malayalee Pentacostal man had drowned, his brother a very spiritual boy completly left the faith and became very rebellious
Just keep that snippet in the back of your head. We are not attacking your family.
Joh 5:18 Because of this, therefore, the Jews lusted the more to kill Him, for not only did He break the sabbath, but also called God His own Father, making Himself equal to God.
where there is no discernment, the wrong people get accused of "trying to take the glory"
My friend, Jesus would be the wrong target of anyone who was accusing someone else of "trying to take the glory", a human, on the other hand, would not be.
1 THESSALONIANS 13 SAYS:
13Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18Therefore encourage each other with these words.
This is what the Bible says about those Christians that have died. They will arise at the trumpet call. We have such great hope.
By asking for a resurrection now, we are contradicting God's plan of salvation of the body.
discernment, or judging rightly ..that's my point
I wish I could give you a firm answer, but i really don't know this lady that well, but I will tell you one thing "Everything that glitters, everything that shines-is not gold" Yes, What she said was very questionable, but James I urge you and anyone to read the Scripture and see what it says and test it. Paul talks about a group a people who were more blessed because they tested and examined the Word of God, don't take everything you hear at face value. See if it's Biblical. Personlly, I can't say that it is Biblical, but that is what I feel in my heart. Maybe Isaac can give you a better answer.
This lady you call a prophetess, has she ever spoken over anything else that has come true? Is this the first time she has spoken out? If she has spoken on behalf of the Lord in the past what is it that has come to pass? Why do we call people prophets or prophettes? Are we not just messengers on behalf of the Lord. Do we use this term to loosely? This does not serve the purpose of condemning but to bring light to this, I am sure a lovely hearted person.
You are right we should test the spirits, but we should not allow it to cause disbelief or doubt stop us from serving the Lord. This the devil uses to bring divide between Christians.
Live life each day as though it's your last so that you may be ready to stand before the Lord. Serve the Lord and give praise for each breath of life.
This life is not all that there is. Those who believe in the Lord have so much more to look forward to.
Let's think about this for a moment, through this tragic event, the Lord has allowed us to create a global Bible study. Isn't this just a remarkable thing to have. I believe Shibu would be happy to see this happen.
Thank You Mr. Puthupillil for your earlier response, I appreciate you for that.
Sincerely,
Robert Blaine Burns
Brother you speak the truth, we must be careful how we test the Word. I believe the Malayalee community is questioning this prophecy because of previous experiences with other prophetessess. They prophecy and sometimes miracles people follow after them and raise them up to be a god, there are many instances of that in India, especially with woman. The Word tells us that "you did miracles and you prophesied in My name and you cast out demons in My name, but I do not know you"
I love to hear the opinions of those around the U.S., and yes this a form our fellowship. We are sharing God's Word and bouncing Scripture off each other.
May God richly bless each one of you and continue to fill you with His Heavenly Hope.
Amen
Another matter is what Tracey said. Regardless what she says and without her family permission people will voice their thoughts and not keep it to themselves, get over it. As George Koshy said, this is a blessing for me to connect with many people who are interested in this. By no means is this an attack on the family, nor is this behind their back. If they also would like to voice their thoughts, they are welcome. I read through all the responses, and no one said Christ cannot raise the dead, our God works miracles and I believe that wholly, but the manner in which this is transpiring is not Scriptural, period. They are not trusting God, they are testing him.
As for passing judgment, the New Testament exhorts that we should be able to rebuke and teach and correct, not simply stand aside and let people walk their corrupt way. Don't say we can't judge. God is the Just Judge, but we as the salt of the world must be capable to correct, rebuke and reprove when needed. Also Tracey, people are grabbing shards of their dignity; there is nothing about that point that does not make sense. No one wants to look bad, especially for the many who have said things using God's name over Shibu when he was alive.
Finally we have a hope, a great and wonderful hope. We will see Shibu on that beautiful shore, he was a man that labored for Christ and it was God's will to call his dear son home. The departure from here was tragic, but his arrival Home was with joy
I agree with the majority of what you say.
To rebuke that which is evil yes, but to rebuke and destroy that which is just in the eyes of the Lord even though we may not totally understand as to why is wrong. I still have not read the prophecy nor will I. Perhaps this is a growing period for this person. I pray that it is.
You do say this is not an attack on them, but could the way this piece was stated be consrued as an attack on them, I quote "THEY ARE NOT TRUSTING GOD, THEY ARE TESTING HIM" We are all guilty of testing the Lord, because we are only human, we all have faults.
Perhaps I will see you in New York at Ground Zero, on the 11th. J.Thalackal.
Thank you Mr. Koshy!
Engage in the journey of forgiviness, spiritual harmony, and peace between all Nations.
