Shibu

Posted on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 17:28 by Registered Commenterdaycruz in | Comments91 Comments | References1 Reference

I didn't post on it earlier but I thought it would be the best time now. For those of you who aren't really involved in the goings on of the Malayalee Pentecostal community in the United States, I thought I'd fill you in. Shibu Mathai and his wife Jamie moved to Oregon about two months ago. They moved to Lebanon of all places and were already getting involved in ministries there. The couple came to our church in July, and immediately made an impact. Although I don't remember what Shibu spoke about that day at our church, I remember being blessed by it. The young couple came to our house later, and I had a great conversation with Jamie and Shibu. I had an inkling in my heart that they would be a great blessing to the Portland area. I told him about the large mission field here, and he started talking about looking for a job here. Last weekend, in Oklahoma, he jumped into a lake at a church picnic to save his 13 year old niece from drowning. I'm not sure how, but Shibu was able to rescue his niece but was caught by the water himself. The news story can be found here.  The beach pictures that you saw on this website had no pictures of us at the beach because we found out about the news after we were there for about ten minutes on the sand- we lost any joy in being there and just drove home.

The latest on this is that they are praying for Shibu. There were many prophecies made over Shibu which detailed the work he was going to do for God in the future. Some of you will be shocked at this, the truth is- they are praying for Shibu to rise up from the dead. This is a sincere prayer to a God who has promised us that he will give us our good desires. As some of you know, I am the biggest skeptic but then I saw this video online-- and yes it is him. I gave a call to the people who run that ministry and they confirmed that their church is praying, along with his family and friends, for Shibu to rise up from the dead. They told me that it was just one of many prophecies made over Shibu before he died.

My take: God can do anything. Absolutely anything. My dad was healed completely from life-endangering injuries from a car accident in the Libyan desert. Doctors told him he could not walk again- my father could destroy you at a game of kabaddi today. Yet, that was God's will for him. I don't know God's will for Shibu, only He does. Yet I am willing to support this family and pray for God to do a miracle here. It sounds crazy, but our God can do whatever the heck he wants. People up and down North America are already praying for him. If you believe, join them today.

UPDATE:  Please understand, there are more sections to this site. You are looking at the first post on this topic. Although DayCruz knows the family, he is in no way connected to what is going on. Neither is Dippu.com. I have made a post about the comments on this post at the very top of this website. You can go to it by clicking here. The body will be buried sometime in the next week. It has been taken out of the church. Here is the latest post on the whole issue.

God can do wonders absolutly 100%,BUT let us consider one thing: who is getting the glory man or God? If this prophetess is comparing Shibu to Christ, where is the glory going to? We live in a time of false prophets and teachers. Let us examine our lives carefully.
Stop the judging and criticism. What I worry is that if God's will is not to raise Shibu, many youth will turn away from the faith. Remember Who should recieve the glory, the power, and the honor: God only not any man or woman. Christ raised Lazarus, but He commanded the people to move the stone from the tomb, and He commanded the people to unbind him. Let us move forwrd with faith, but don't be swept away in this excitment. Let only God's will be done.

Our God is an awsome God, Nothing is impossible for him

May God, honor the faith of those who pray for the miracle.

God can do this miracle even at the last minute.

May God bless Shibu's family !!

with pryaers.

S George

Amen to J.Joseph! The Christian daily life is a battlefield, and we need to move forward with Scritural guidance, not what Malayalee youth do out of extreme grief. God is all-powerful and His ways are unquestionable, it was His will to take Shibu home. A prophetess should not be controlling your heart, God should be. The Pentacostal Malayalee Youth need to settle down and get their hearts united to Christ for His will. If Shibu was a 60 year old with many prohecies to be fulfilled, you most likly would not see the youth on their knees. Don't act out your shock and grief. God can and will do miracles, but you must get yor hearts aright first. I understand the pain and agony, I have lost friends my age, but we need to move with forwrd with prayer, lest the name of the Lord be put to shame by the media and nation.

most of the people who are praying for this do not have any sadness or agony for shibu or his family, ...because many don't even know the family and know that Shibu is in a better place ..., ..but they are still praying for this miracle merely because they believe it is their God's will and that God will be glorified

If you are convicted that this of God, ..that it is His will, ..keep praying, ..keep doing what you're doing.....don't be diverted into the wrong direction by those who speak against it. ..keep focused

your brother :)

Isa 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Isa 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isa 55:10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

If it is in the sovereign will of God that Shibu will rise, ...get ready people...get ready for something special to happen :)

I am happy to see that people are responding. the one thing I do see is that we as Christians are divided. We cannot continue to destroy ourselves. We must unite if we are to overcome our obstacles in the future. Today, September 1st, 2005 I shall begin to fast if not 21 days, then 12 days. During this fast I will truly seek the Lord and ask that the Lord place direction in each and every person involved. There needs to be movement forward in the direction the Lord desires. Truly fast and seek the Lord. To be one with the Lord is a very powerful experience. It's so powerful and amazing as to what can be accomplished through the Lords guidance. Imagine those who don't have as strong a faith as the Mathais and you lived in the times when Jesus lived, you also would probably condemn the Lord for these unusual miracles just as you are condemning the faith of the Mathais. Only the Lord knows what is in store for the Mathais and all who are following. There is a purpose or God would have allowed this. Don't be blind. Perhaps this is just an educational lesson in preparation for what is truly to come. When I fast and truly seek the Lord with the Lords presence I can ask for anything and he always responds within 24 hours. While I take this journey I will pray for absolute direction for the Mathais. Instead of creating negativity and doubt what will you as Christians do for the Mathais.

Sincerely,

Robert Blaine Burns
I am with J Joseph " if God's willis not to raise Shibu, many youth will turn away from the faith." Let God's name be glorified. For a child of God, it should be good because, like Paul said, "for me to live is Christ and to die is gain. So whether I'm dead or alive, I'm winning. Now let us pray for the people living with us with many different kinds of needs. God's name be glorified

I agree with some of the previous folks. This is not for God's glory. Prophets are trying to get back their dignity because if he is buried, their names will be bad. Also I read the prophecy that this so-called prophetess said on Shibu, the comparison of Shibu to Christ is blasphemous. I talked with a Pentacostal pastor about it, he was saying she simply put some words together and is seeking some noteriety. God's glory and power can not compared to any other man. Shibu is resting in God's presence. If Shib does arise, who will the media and socity honor; it's definitly not God. Prevoius people mentioned that the Malayalee community should unite, DOES SOMEBODY HAVE TO DIE FOR US TO UNITE AS A PEOPLE? Get a hold of youselves SPIRITUALLY AND EMOTIONALLY, LET NOT GOD'S NAME BE PUT TO SHAME!
I heard about what the Malayalee community is doing in Oregon. God can do miracles, but if you are moving forward with what prophets are saying in this time of false prophets, stop now. We are all kings and priests and parts of the New Testament Church, Hid bride. Brother Shibu has gone before us, and that is why we should rejoice. WHY do you wnat to drag him back to the world of pain and worry? From what I have heard in the time he was alive he did much more for Christ than any of us did. Then called His child home, his work on earth done in God's great master plan. I read Kimberly's prophecy, she is very blasphemous by saying he is the "reconciling of the nations" Come to God's presence with reverence, thousands dies in the Asian tsunami, why didnt anybody pray for at least one of them to raise up. Many lost souls are perishing every hour, yet you are praying over one who has lived his life for Christ and died a hero. I have lost my good opinion about the Pentacostal malayalee community. Rejoice that he has been promoted, do not demote him by attempting to bring him back. I have known Keralites as God's own people, and God's people need to get their minds straight with Him and move according to the Holy Spirit, not what man or woman, who look for fame, has to say
To God be the glory, power, and strength forever!
Let the man be in God's presence, stop being so selfish. As someone mentioned, these prophets don't want to look phony.

I agree with Severson in Dallas. I have lost respect for a community I believed was very spiritual and holy. May God's Spirit enlighten your darkened minds. Stop running after everything you hear. For our God is a jealous God, and He does not give His Glory to another!
Focus on only Christ, and this "reconciling of Ishmael" is a bunch of garbage! I grew up in missionary home, at young age I came to Christ, now God is still my Guide and my Hope at my older years. I can go at any time. To the Malayalee Community- Come Back to Christ!!
God's people need to be willing to take judgment and criticism. People are not going "to shut up"8/24. People are making very valid points, learn to take criticism Isaac, the world does not think like you! I speak for the Malayalee community in Thiruvilla IPC Church. God will do wonders, but don't run after prophets!

Human beings deserve dignity after death. Shibu also deserves dignity and a proper burial. Shibu is resting with his Lord in glory now. His so called friends and family are making a mockery of God though. They are testing God and embarressing Christians.

This is wrong theology. No where in New Testament do we read of people not burying their dead for God to do a miracle.

1 John 4:1 admonishes “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

John is right on the button, your making a mockery of God's name. This is not Biblical. I speak boldly because I know the family, we were in the same church. We are not condeming them. This is just a case of prophets saying "i can't be wrong"

This seems to be a formation of a cult. Be very careful about this. I do not believe this to be of God.

God is all powerful, so why don't they bury him then pray, or don't you think God will bring him out even after his flesh is rotted? Lazarus actually was in the grave, put away. Here they keep him fresh and embalmed as if God's hand is shortened. I really don't think you
(Burns & Issac) understand the human side of this. Every time the father and mother see the corpse of their only son can you imagine the suffering in their heart. You don't understand, you say they are rejoicing and celebrating, thats only on the outside. Everyday that goes by they are burning inside, IT'S THEIR ONLY SON! THE CHILD THEY RAISED AND SCHOOLED AND NUTURED,Easy for you to say that theyre happy.
Prophets may say this and that, test everything and never ever take anything at face value. Thats the type of world we live in. Be as innocent as doves, but as cunning as snakes. I personally know families that have lost children that had many prophecies not yet fulfilled. That does not mean all prophets are wrong, it simply means God will take you home when he sees your work done. Some of you might then say that God's work for Shibu was not done. Who are you to question God for that? The dead can still be raised, but the manner this is being carried out is not Biblcal as John said and this Kimberly lady is speaking blasphemy. Every word she said all those titles belong to Christ and Him only! As a Pentacostal Malayalee I warn any of you from following such a destructive demonic spirit

People, People, People

If you have a problem with the Mathais, don't use your energy to condemn them. Use your energy to pray for them and other alike so that the Lords will be done. Would you condemn me when I speak of an earthquake or death or illness before it happens. I believe 100 percent in the Lord and because of my strong faith he speaks to me and through these things that happen I am used by the Lord to bring people before him in his name. People, thank the Lord that we can come together in his name. May the Lord bless and work in everyone.

Sincerely,

Robert Blaine Burns

I am not agreeing with the prophetess in any way, I have not even discussed this prophecy. I know that the Mathais truly believe in the Lord and the gift that they have is very powerful. They listen to the Lord. Didn't Jesus say let the dead bury the dead
and follow him. Yes we live in a modern society and it is only right in this society to bury Shibu. But let the Lord tell them when not modern society.
(Puthupullil) are you saying that the Mathais are filled with demonic spirits, that may not be the best statement to say. Have you actually sat down with the Family and discussed their beliefs. I have and they spoke over me in Gods name and it all came true because it was the Lord that spoke through them. I then in turn spoke over them a year later. Come on people stop the condemning, it is not right. It is only the Lord who has the right to condemn and that time will come at the judgement.

Sincerely,

Robert Blaine Burns
By no means did I condemn the family, nor did I say they have demonic spirits. My point is that, that prophetess is not God, but soley of the devil. This by no means anything toward the family, This is how cults form, we just need to be careful.
Robert Burns, I really sorry if I insulted or upset you in any way. I just want some good to come out of this. I don't want the youth to turn away from Christ if nothing happens.
My sincere apologies
