Shibu

Posted on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 17:28 by Registered Commenterdaycruz in | Comments91 Comments | References1 Reference

I didn't post on it earlier but I thought it would be the best time now. For those of you who aren't really involved in the goings on of the Malayalee Pentecostal community in the United States, I thought I'd fill you in. Shibu Mathai and his wife Jamie moved to Oregon about two months ago. They moved to Lebanon of all places and were already getting involved in ministries there. The couple came to our church in July, and immediately made an impact. Although I don't remember what Shibu spoke about that day at our church, I remember being blessed by it. The young couple came to our house later, and I had a great conversation with Jamie and Shibu. I had an inkling in my heart that they would be a great blessing to the Portland area. I told him about the large mission field here, and he started talking about looking for a job here. Last weekend, in Oklahoma, he jumped into a lake at a church picnic to save his 13 year old niece from drowning. I'm not sure how, but Shibu was able to rescue his niece but was caught by the water himself. The news story can be found here.  The beach pictures that you saw on this website had no pictures of us at the beach because we found out about the news after we were there for about ten minutes on the sand- we lost any joy in being there and just drove home.

The latest on this is that they are praying for Shibu. There were many prophecies made over Shibu which detailed the work he was going to do for God in the future. Some of you will be shocked at this, the truth is- they are praying for Shibu to rise up from the dead. This is a sincere prayer to a God who has promised us that he will give us our good desires. As some of you know, I am the biggest skeptic but then I saw this video online-- and yes it is him. I gave a call to the people who run that ministry and they confirmed that their church is praying, along with his family and friends, for Shibu to rise up from the dead. They told me that it was just one of many prophecies made over Shibu before he died.

My take: God can do anything. Absolutely anything. My dad was healed completely from life-endangering injuries from a car accident in the Libyan desert. Doctors told him he could not walk again- my father could destroy you at a game of kabaddi today. Yet, that was God's will for him. I don't know God's will for Shibu, only He does. Yet I am willing to support this family and pray for God to do a miracle here. It sounds crazy, but our God can do whatever the heck he wants. People up and down North America are already praying for him. If you believe, join them today.

UPDATE:  Please understand, there are more sections to this site. You are looking at the first post on this topic. Although DayCruz knows the family, he is in no way connected to what is going on. Neither is Dippu.com. I have made a post about the comments on this post at the very top of this website. You can go to it by clicking here. The body will be buried sometime in the next week. It has been taken out of the church. Here is the latest post on the whole issue.

To the family of Shibu,

My heartfelt condolences to you. I can only encourage you with the words of King David when his baby died. He reminded his people that his baby would not come back to him, but one day he could go to his baby. As hard as it may be, we have this hope that one day we will all rejoice with Shibu in heaven. He has gone there before us and is enjoying His Lord. I am reminded of the verse in scripture that says All things work for the good of those that love Him. May the Lord fill you with His Grace, His peace, His comfort and His strength.

Dear Friends,

I am so grateful for the opportunity that I got to look at this site. IT gave me a better understanding of what is happening in the minds of the young people in the Indian Pentecostal movement. I want to thank the website for putting this particular video that clearly shows which prophecies contributed to the happenings in OK at this time.

Please stop this madness that has overtaken the minds of the youth and parents in OK. Stop this madness before those that look from the outside will be directed away from the Savior - the Lord Jesus CHrist.

Please consider the video you have posted. Listen to the prophecy that was being pronounced upon Shibu by this supposed prophetess Kimberly. She gave Shibu the Glory of the Lord that belonged to Christ. No one can make rivers flow where there is no water except Christ Himself. No one can reconcile nations except Christ Himself. No ones feet can cause quakes and thunder except in the Second coming of Christ by Christ Himself. No one can reconcile Ishmael except Christ Himself. She attributed all of who and what Christ has done and continues to do upon Shibu. Shibu was supposed to have a greater annointing - greater than whom?. In him, one can experience fountains of youth?
Please, if this is the prophecy everybody is going by - I would say - throw it in the garbage because that is what it is worth. ANy time someone speaks and gives honor to a mortal human being, it is taking away from Christ that which belongs to Him and to Him alone. Such a person bears a false gospel and is to be avoided at all costs.

Please stop this madness, confess your sins before the Creator of the Universe and humble yourself in His sight. You will have peace.
I would like to say that nothing is impossible with our lord. However we have to be very careful in accepting any prophecies. We have to have the power to differentiate between false and true prophecies. Yes, there are true prophesies which come true in today’s age however and the day comes closer to our lords coming more and more false prophets do rise. Let's just pray that the Lord's name would not be disgraced at all. Just be careful when we hear any prophecies. Always make sure that Christ’s name and no man’s name is glorified.
He is in my prayers, God can do great and wonderous miracles.

While i was reading this whole prophecy, i was just shocked. She was comparing Shibu to Jesus throughout the whole time. No one's higher than the heights other than Jesus. No one can reconcile the nations other than Jesus. A true prophecy will not compare Jesus, the Almighty God, to any man. A prophecy is supposed to edify the people, not to bring confusion to everyone who hears it.
DO NOT compare Jesus to any other man. He is a Consuming fire. Fear Him and give Him all the glory.

There's always 3 sides, ....
-those who don 't know God's will and yet oppose the work of God in their ignorance (ie pharisees, scribes, religious leaders etc..and all the others who opposed the Lord) ..and

-those who don't know God's will and so wisely keep their mouth shut....and

-those who understand God's will to some degree and then stand in harmony with His will

if i were to be a part of any group i would be with the guys who understood Gods will and stood in harmony with it, .....or if i didn't know what God's will was, i would keep my mouth shut and not make drastic judgments against people

this is wisdom

Isaac,

I thought it better to point out some points I don't agree with you on.

Firstly, no one can understand God's will. We can try & understand it. But you cannot come close to fully understanding it. There is no need for me to bring out verses to prove my point on this well-known truth. So, out of your "3 sides", #3 "those who understand God's will to some degree" does not exist (even Billy Graham isn't in it!)

Secondly, while I openly disputed the existance of your 3rd side, I will also make it clear that you rightly used the phrase "to some degree". So you do acknowledge the fact that we can understand God's will only to an infinitesimally small degree. In other words, we have to agree that we do NOT KNOW God's will and not state that we KNOW a tiny part of His will for us. The only part of God's will that you DO KNOW is the life you already lived till this point.

Thirdly, this makes your group#2 incorrect and can only be rephrased as "those who don't know God's will" but still choose to "stand in harmony with His will" Here again, there is no question of being in harmony with His will as His will is THE will, and no person living/dead has a choice on that matter.

Fourthly & lastly (I did not intend for this to go this long), other than your 1st side, the only other side (after being correctly re-worded) OUGHT to be "those who don't know God's will and so wisely" differentiate between the right & wrong teachings from the scriptures.

You may ask about my stand? But whether I approve of the Shibu prophecy or not is different from the incorrect suggestion/advice to "keep their mouth shut". If you are a faithful Christian, you will question and learn as much as possible from the prophets/teachers/pastors & elders around you. "This is wisdom". To be quiet and just accept all of it to be true, would be nothing but injustice to your personal faith.

i did not say we can understand God's will for this world completely, ...but we can understand Gods will that pertains to our life. In fact i would say there is no greater thing in life than to seek His will for our life,

We are not on this earth so that we can live according to our own will, ..we were born for His cause, ..and for this we have to seek His will, understand it and do it. If the Lord hasn't dealt with you in this way yet, ..again I ask, why speak against others who have a different experience than you ...(you in the general sense..not you, you ;)

Did Noah know God's will? Did God reveal His will to Abraham? Did God not reveal His will to Moses and the prophets?

....nobody profits off of the saying "you can not know God's will" other than Satan ....because Satan loves the ways of man, .because it is in direct opposition to God

Mat 16:23b .....Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men

...this the Lord said to peter who was totally oblivious to the will of God ...there is nothing more important than to understand the will of God, .and this can only happen through revelation to the spirit. Again, ..this experience is not known by everyone and neither does it just happen over night, ..but it eventually happens in the lives of those who are thirsty for His will....after a while they become sensitive to the leading of the spirit.

Its a phenomenon that happens with the movers and shakers in the kingdom of God, ..you don't have to look very far in scripture to see this :) peace

you are totally correct in saying that we should question things, ..it's a symptom of us taking our faith seriously

but when a group of people are praying for something that they say is in the will of God, ...is it right for you to question that? ..because obviously the bible doesn't speak against this

Act 26:8 Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

our only contention here is whether or not they are hearing from God ....only they and God would know this , ...that's why i say we should restrain ourselves from judging their actions

"but when a group of people are praying for something that they say is in the will of God, ...is it right for you to question that?"
YES!!

If we agree on the point that QUESTIONING someone's action is different from JUDGING the same person's action, then Issac we are on the same note here.

I agree on the point that we have NO RIGHT to judge the actions of any of our fellow believers. But we have every right to question their actions.

So that leads to touchy point of how do you question it. There are the sinners (Yes! I boldly call these Christians that) who openly criticize their actions, whose ultimate objective is to stir up more ridicule/wrath against the subjects, just 'cos they don't approve of it. Now those are the kind I do not appove of either. But the right way to question someone else's actions (if it is out of PURE SINCERITY) is to bring it up with fellow believers and more preferably your church pastors/elders.

So ... AMEN to your point that "we should restrain ourselves from judging their actions" but do amen on the fact that we can question others (in an appropriate way) about their actions.

By His grace, BJ

again, ..what can we question about in this situation, other than "did they hear from God or not"

we can only wait and see.....as they say, the proof is in the pudding

i hope none of this is based out of natural emotion or wishful thinking, .... because otherwise they are in a very precarious position, ..as most people who die, stay dead

My condolences to the Mathai Family

People, believe in the Lord thy God, do not waiver, trust that all is possible. For those who waiver do not truly have complete faith in the Lord. It was June when the Lord granted me insight, (vision) in regards to the Mathai Family. They are truly just in the eyes of the Lord. For they shall all stand with the Lord. While in the shower the Lord granted me this and I could not stop the release of tears. I made a special four hour trip to go and listen to them speak in Nanaimo. I spoke to them at the church, perhaps not as clearly as I would have liked as I became fairly emotional but perhaps as clearly as the Lord wanted. From that point I had a hard time looking at them and especially at the end when it came time to pray for people. My body was shaking and I could only look down. The way it unfolded was confirmed the Friday evening, I believe, as I looked into my Auntie's eye. My heart fell to my stomach. The service was on the Sunday and I knew roughly a week and half or so prior.
Finding out about this moment in time is as though I am reliving part of what was but in actual time. For the Lord is great and even though one wishes to stop something from happening it is the Lord that is in charge and not man. As a human and a child of God I am only sorry that I could not have spoken more. Perhaps I will speak more clearly and explain to them the full detail one day. I pray it is the Lord that takes charge and guides all those who are a part of this moment to speak of the glory and power of the Lord. People do not even think of doubting the Lords power. Those who doubt miss out on what God truly has to offer. Those who think of writing negative messages, DON'T, for this is not the lords will but that of the evil one who brings death.
The Lord used Shibu to save his niece, that is a testimony that shall be passed on to many. People, put away your material items and serve the Lord for it is time. Serve the Lord as the Mathai Family serves the Lord for it it the Lords time. Praise the Lord for recieving Shibu before the times of turmoil.
Those who truly believe in the Lord Jesus Christ never die, for they are even more alive than those who walk this earth.
The power is in the Lord, I pray the power of the Holy Spirit move in the way of the Lord.

Sincerely,

Robert Blaine Burns
This is a time of Rejoicing!
Someone wise told me that it would be selfish for us to want to keep our loved ones in this wretched world. The moment someone goes to be with the Lord they are in blissful peace. Why wouldn't we want that for our loved ones? We will all one day have the chance to be with our Lord and see our loved ones again. I believe Shibu is in a MUCH better place. He is so happy and content. Let us pray that the family truly understands the will of God and finds peace in knowing that Shibu is in peace. May their hearts be put at ease.

Texan Gal!

I have met the family on two occasions and they truly understand the will of God. We can learn from all this, just truly open your spirit to the Lord. Set aside all that consumes your time and seek the Lord with great conviction. Many fail to use the spirit to what the Lord has granted. All who believe seek the gifts the Lord has granted each and everyone of you. If there is anytime to use what he grants us it is now inorder to fight the battle here on earth. There entire family blood line shall walk in the presence of the Lord. This the Lord has granted me.

Sincerely,

Robert Blaine Burns
This is crazy, there is no such thing that you're gonna rise from death. Whata loosers. Please do the right thing, bury his body. You guys out of this world. This is not the right time to make some extra cash. Bury his body.

To The (A Friend) probably not a friend at all.

May the Lord deal with your ignorance in a forgiving manner, because I do not wish to, but I will as the Lord says to do this, I forgive you for your rediculous statement. Allow these people to mourn in their own way. They do not listen to the desire of man but give complete obedience to the Lord. May the Lord allow you to learn and see all that I have, poor soul. Have you or others truly been witness to the powers of our Lord and God. Watch around the world for the Lord will........... .

Long time ago my pastor met a very young cancer patient and he invited him to the church for worship. He showed up with his two children and wife. Pastor announced in the church that his days are numbered according to the medical society, but prayer can bring victory and pastor assigned everyone to pray at least an hour for him everyday. My heart felt so worry about his family and I cried louder to god for his healing, but few weeks later tha dear brother passed away and I questioned god for his death and went to sleep that night. That night I passed away and my soul lifted up accross heaven and my heavenly father showed me how rejoice is death and from heaven I saw my wife, children, friends and family weeping around my dead body and I felt so sorry for them because they are not enjoying the great gift that almighty Creator carried on me. Before closing let me encourage you all with one word that when you think your pray not answered, pray again with your question and you will be answered.
