iBelieve

How can someone love an object?

all the jesusfreaks who also own an iShuffle can now represent, while listening to their favorite christian music.

while gizmodo, boing boing and lockergnome all got the scoop from moco loco, i heard it from jake.he never tells me about his sources. i never ask. the internet is full of shady places and dangerous characters. some things you dont want to know.

moco loco did get me the scoop on Scott Wilson, the designer.

unfortunately, this is another one of those obscenely mallu pente centric paragraphs that seem to come out of my hindbrain every now and then. which is why this post has also been tagged with more than one category. you know how we have this whole prohibition act on jewellery. or as some people would say. "back in the day we would never wear jewellery, but now everybody is compromising with the world"

would wearing an iBelieve constitute jewellery wearing? i don't have one, otherwise i could tell you what happened when i went to church wearing it. yeah, i go to an old school church. but not old school enough for a thambar.

at the moment, an iShuffle undoubtedly makes you look cooler, but will the iBelieve do it? when form meets function, where does it leave the appachen pastor with his "you shalt not have hair bands on your wrists because it is a bracelet and an abomination to the Lord. and to me, and your parents and the church."?

moreover, if you notice, the point of the designer is to use a cultural icon to focus attention on the brand. what could be more subversive than to change it into an expression of your faith?  the idea is so elegant, i wonder if it is an intellectual fairy tale.

The whole jewelery issue is something that children are confused about. I do not blame you, parents can't explain it and pastors do not want to hurt people's feelings. Pastors also don't address this issue because they want to keep the tithe coming in. So children and adults alike take heed:

1 Peter 3:3 "Let not you adorning be outward with adorning of hair and of wearing gold, or of putting on of fine apparel"

You may ask, well it matters what's in my heart right?
Right, but if that humbleness and purity is in our heart it will overflow to your whole being. It will show on the outside, if you love God on the inside. I will say that much for now, if needed I will explain further.

Then you ask, is wearing a gold watch jewelry? Yes it is. And our dear ammachi's and and sisters have thrown that a blind eye.

Remember that your body is the temple of God, you are not of your own, but you are God's, His purchased possesion.

Now how do I handle jewelery in my church:
If a family came to my church, I would pray that God would speak to them first. That has been more effective than talking with them. Usually when I ask them why they removed it, they said wearing jewelery felt like a great hinderance to them to serving God wholly. I usually never confront anybody about it, God straightens it out before I can speak. Praise the Lord!
The no jewelery issue is not soley a Malayalee pentacostal thing, you kids would be shocked to know that in the early days, jewelery hardly existed in American churches. Then slowly it has creeped in.

This is a issue you are finding hard to grasp, let me know, I will pray for you, God will open His understanding to you.

Now I know these comments will spark sharp rebuttal. But what I said was in God's love only for the edification of you dear ones.

With prayer and humbleness,
Pastor S. Thomas

Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Mat 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
Mat 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
Mat 23:26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
Mat 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
Mat 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

nowhere in scripture does God say not to where jewelry. these sorts of doctrines are birthed out of misinterpretation of scriptures

Brother Isaac,

I forgive you for your words. You can call it misinterpretation if you like, that is your opinion.

Whenever, we see the children of Israel coming to God for confession and repentance, God immediatly tells them to cast away their ornaments.
It is a shame for me to see you Isaac, a person with knowledge of Scripture, be rebellious. Sure you can call me whatever you want, quote Scripture if you like.
But if I did not geninuenly care about children I would have left reading Dippu long ago. I want to help you learn the Bible, and I want learn along with you. Everything I say might not be compatible with you. But I know exactly the pressures you all face, I grew up here too. Sure times have changed, but I can relate to what you are facing.

If you want to support jewelery, go ahead, but don't attack others with Scripture, demons knows Scripture too.

It seems that you are the type of person that if the Bible did not mention homosexuality at all, you would lean toward that too, right? Just because the Bible does not clearly outline it, you deem it acceptable.
Isaac monay, I like your zeal, but channel it for HIs Glory, not in your own defense.

Your brother,
Pastor S. Thomas

Brother, you are arguing out of fustration, not hate. You are lost, by being stuck in both worlds. Don't worry, I am willing to hear you out completly.

"Don't worry, I am willing to hear you out completly. "

-Now what would make you think that hearing me out would be of any consequence to me? I simply put out my stand on the issue in light of scripture. You can do whatever you want Pastor Thomas.

Psa 89:11 The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fullness thereof, thou hast founded them.

Son 1:9 I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh's chariots.
Son 1:10 Thy cheeks are comely with rows of jewels, thy neck with chains of gold.
Son 1:11 We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.

Isa 54:11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colors, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.
Isa 54:12 And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.

That last portion is so beautiful,....when I read it, it makes me feel like God truly understands the real world problems people go through,....and it is as though in response he sings a love song to those who look to Him and says "I will build you"

All I was saying before is that there is a principle which is most important that we as followers of Christ should embrace and that is making the things of heaven the priority or focus of life, instead of the things of the world. When the order is switched, we become idolators, ..mammonites, ...superficial....having no depth of character

Can we say the jewellry discussion is a bit overplayed? Yes? Thank you, I'm gonna close this post because I know where I stand on it, and it doesn't really bother me where anyone else stands on it. The jewellry discussion will come back to dippu.com, but not anytime soon. Thanks for your comments.. DayCruz
