I started writing this post listening to the Goo Goo Dolls' Better Days.
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
[Considering how Instapundit calls DesiPundit's idea explicitly modelled on the Katrina relief effort, I think it quite fair that I be moved by the same song that cnn is playing while showing Katrina relief ads.]
I sit here, far away from the rubble and dust, staring at a flourescent screen that gives me no visceral feel for the devastation that stalks the world these days. hurricanes, mudslides, earthquakes. nature joins famine, war and pestilence to prowl our forlorn planet. As I await the beginning of the end, words are empty comfort in a world where the very foundations of the earth have buckled and torn apart human lives into so many fragments of elemental pain.
A post today, and maybe some of you will be moved to help. I sometimes wonder that all the destruction has passed me by, and I can afford the luxury of empty words while hiding on the other end of this stream of bytes, but I dont have to settle for it.
I won't. Join the effort.
I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I'll put in a dollar for every commenter who comments and donate the amount to UNICEF.
Please take a moment to contribute in some way to help alleviate the suffering.
Thanks, anna, for reminding us all.
UPDATE: DayCruz here, I've decided to also put my money where my heart is or something like that-- I will be matching Zimbly Mallu's donations. Enigma has also decided to do this. So please- tell your friends. You are welcome to donate more by clicking on the links provided. I will be donating to World Vision.UPDATE: Add Bobby to the list, this makes it 4 dollars per comment. Awesome!

Response: blogquake dayOver at Dippu, ZimblyMallu (aka Pramod) has decided to “put his mouth where his heart is”. If anyone of you reading this were moved by what happened in India and Pakistan because of the earthquake, take the time to head over and comment di...

Alls Im saying is if you'd be willing to donate a dollar for so many posts why not just give the money on your own and not make such a big deal out of it. Yes we should help out each other but you guys seem to be looking for attention here
Interesting comments. First of all, we don't really need the attention here. We never ever send out any sort of soliciting emails, which is what we would have done if we really needed attention. We're happy with the amount of hits we get every day. Secondly, this is an attempt to make it a collective effort. If you researched Blog Quake Day a little more, you would understand that it is designed to make everyone spread the word about Earthquake relief, which is sorely lacking. That's what we're doing right now. If you go to desipundit.com you will see what exactly I'm talking about. There are a huge group of people in my contact list who haven't donated. Perhaps this post here will spur them to donate more. And spreading the word of God isn't just about throwing Bible verses out there, its also about spreading the love of God through our actions. As you can tell, I'm a bit peeved by your comment. And oh btw, you and I just put two more dollars into the Quake fund. Have a good day.
Those of us who read Dippu daily know that you do not do this for attention.
Also quick prayer request: I have recieved word that in
NorthIndia the anti-christian movement have stepped up agression against missionaries. They have recruited thousands of young men, formed violent gangs and armed them with machetes and ordered them to torture anyone involved in converting to Christianity especially the new converts.May God strengthen those suffering for His name. Please hold them in your prayers!
Pastor S.Thomas
Can you email me with some more information about what's happening in North India?
I know some of you might have relatives there, I would urge you to ask them for more finite details. God will protect them under His mighty wings.
".....The effectual fervent prayer of a rightous man availeth much" James 5:16

Nevertheless you are right, Orissa is near the Bay of Bengal above Andhra Pradesh. You kids know the map better then me, so I will not explain further. That state has endured many great tidal wave disasters and if you are familiar with the Rourkala area you know that it is very hostile to Christianity.
Sorry about that folks, should have made myself more clear
Pastor S. Thomas
*Hey Dikku, you're one great guy! Dad always said you were special and now I agree more with him. Love you loads, achu*
